Recently, the deadline for providing written submissions on the PMPRB’s proposed new Guidelines was extended until January 31, 2020. As part of the ongoing consultation process, the PMPRB has reserved three days in January for bilateral meetings with individual patentees: January 8, 9, and 10, 2020. Meetings will be scheduled on a first-come first-served basis and are intended to provide the PMPRB with a better understanding of company specific concerns and challenges regarding the potential application of the proposed Guidelines to their portfolio of new and existing patented medicines.

The PMPRB has also been made aware that several patentees have recently requested to meet with PMPRB staff to seek early compliance advice. Multiple outreach sessions will be scheduled as quickly as possible upon release of the final publication in order to provide patentees with compliance information prior to coming into force of the amendments to the Patented Medicines Regulations in July 2020.

In addition, the PMPRB will also host a patentee-only webinar on January 17, 2020, based on the  presentation made to select representatives of IMC and BIOTECanada members at the industry forum held on December 9, 2019. We encourage our clients and other stakeholders to register and attend.
